Why A 2015 Mustang GT Supercharger Is the Thing You Need

Getting a 2015 Mustang GT Supercharger Is the Best Way to Improve Your Car

Installing a 2015 Mustang GT supercharger in your vehicle can be so much fun, especially if you have an incredible car to start with. It is the easiest way to increase the power of the engine and add a ton of horsepower. The power increase is based on the stock engine that’s inside your car, and each model offers something different.

If you own a 2015 Mustang, there are plenty of different options when it comes to superchargers. The total increase in horsepower can be up to 70% based on the model or type of supercharger you have or plan on, and it is the easiest and most efficient way to transform your vehicle.

Here, we will talk about the options you have at your disposal, the types of superchargers, as well as all the reasons why getting a blower might be the best possible solution.

Supercharging a Mustang GT

Superchargers are air compressors designed to bring more air into the combustion chamber. With more air, the engine is able to burn more fuel, which results in an increase in power. The idea behind superchargers is quite simple.

Installing a blower in your vehicle is the simplest way to boost its performance. While you can replace some other parts of the car to achieve the desired result, the increase in performance won’t be nearly as significant.

It all comes down to what you’re trying to achieve with the upgrade. In general, superchargers are an excellent option for the majority of users, and they are quite easy to install, but more on that later. It is up to you to decide which type of supercharger you need, and the only thing that matters is finding a model suitable for your car and its engine.

If you own a 2015 Mustang GT, you have plenty of options. You can get:

  • Centrifugal superturbochargers
  • Centrifugal superchargers
  • Positive displacement pumps

Both centrifugal superchargers and PD pumps are quite popular, and you can find models designed for your vehicle. As for the positive displacement pumps, you can find several different types based on the design:

  • Lysholm
  • Roots
  • Scroll-type
  • Sliding vane

Naturally, you will need to find a model that fits the engine that’s in your 2015 Mustang, but more on that later. There are a couple of things you need to know about your car before you can go and buy a Ford Mustang supercharger.

Evolution of Mustang

The first Mustang was introduced in 1964. The idea behind it was to design an affordable and highly styled coupe, and the popularity of the Mustang went through the roof. It was estimated that there would be 100,000 sales each year, but in only two years, Ford sold a million Mustangs.

It also inspired other brands to design their own versions of the car, such as Plymouth Barracuda, Chevrolet Camaro, and others. The first generation of Mustang was between 1964 and 1973, and the popularity of the car kept increasing.

Over the years, designers changed the concept and looks of the vehicle, and they tried to stay in line with modern trends. One of the interesting things we can notice is that the third and fourth generations of Mustang looked nothing like their predecessors. The concept changed again after that.

Today, we have modernized vehicles that are designed as modern muscle cars. Probably the most recognizable Mustangs are those from the first and fifth generation, but that doesn’t mean that other models are not as good. The engine kept changing and improving, and the vehicles became more reliable.

Sixth Generation of Ford Mustang

The sixth generation of Mustang started in 2014, and the models are produced to this day. It has fully independent rear suspension on all available models, and it is the first version of Mustang to be available across the globe.

When it comes to the engine, the first models had three different options to choose from:

  1. 3.7L Cyclone V6
  2. 2.3L EcoBoost l4 (turbocharged)
  3. 5.0L Coyote V8

Naturally, Ford added more options as time went by. The 2.3L EcoBoost was quite new, and it marked the return of four-cylinder engines. Since each generation of Mustangs had other models like GT or Shelby GT500, this means that you can find numerous different types of engines in this series of vehicles.

Series Date hp Engine size
Mustang V6 2015 to 2017 300 hp 3.7L
EcoBoost l4 2015 to present 310 hp 2.3L
EcoBoost Export l4 2015 to present 313 hp or 286 hp 2.3L
Mustang GT V8 2015 to present 435 hp or 460 hp 5.0L
Mustang GT Export 2015 to present 415 hp or 444 hp 5.0L
Mustang Bullitt 2019 to present 480 hp 5.0L
Bullitt Export 2019 to present 453 hp 5.0L
Shelby GT350 2015 to present 526 hp 5.2L
Shelby GT500 2020 to present 760 hp 5.2L

The models in the table with two values for horsepower had a change in 2017, and the production continued in 2018 until today. EcoBoost and V8 engines are the ones that were upgraded, while the original V6 was discontinued.

2015 Mustang Supercharger

If you own a 2015 Mustang, you are still left with a couple of different options. It is possible that your car has a V6, l4, or V8 engine. The year 2015 was the first year of the sixth generation, and it is essential to know which model of vehicle you have.

The most important thing is to know the series of the vehicle since 2015 offered three different engines. Supercharging the car is not that challenging, but it is essential to find a model of the blower that can fit the engine. If we are talking about a 2015 Mustang GT supercharger, this means that the engine is a 5.0L Coyote V8 with 435 horsepower and 400 lb-ft of torque.

What Will You Get From the Supercharger?

The obvious gain from getting a supercharger is an increase in horsepower. Since we are talking about the Mustang GT with 435 hp, installing a supercharger will get the vehicle to 630 horsepower, which is quite impressive.

If you decide to buy a 2015 Mustang GT supercharger kit, you will also get all the necessary parts you need to replace for the blower to work as intended. While getting a supercharger on its own is still possible, it isn’t the smartest thing to do since you will still need to add a few parts.

Installation Process for the 2015 Mustang GT Supercharger

There are two possible options for the installation of a supercharger on your Mustang. The first one is to take your car to the local garage or workshop and let the professionals do it for you. This is the simplest solution, and it will have the best possible results. People at the shop probably have years of experience in the field, and they have installed countless superchargers in their careers.

Furthermore, they know how the process works and how to speed things up. It is a perfect option for anyone looking to supercharge their Mustang without worrying about the process and all the things that could go wrong.

However, this is not the only option. You can always install the supercharger by yourself. While the process is not as challenging as you might expect, it is still not something that everyone is comfortable with. If you are used to tinkering around your engine, replacing parts, and upgrading the vehicle, then this might be a perfect option for you.

The majority of manufacturers will provide an installation manual, and you can follow the step-by-step guide to install the supercharger. One of the best things about blowers is that you won’t need to change anything permanently. There is no cutting or damaging the original parts, and you can remove the supercharger at any point if you feel like it.

With supercharger kits, the only things you’ll need are time and tools. For someone with experience, installing a supercharger can take up to ten hours, but it varies from case to case and the extent of experience a person has.

Are 2015 and 2016 Mustang GT Superchargers Identical?

Yes. Both 2015 and 2016 Mustangs come from the sixth generation, and superchargers are suitable for any model between 2015 and 2017. Both vehicles will have a 5.0L engine, and you can pick the same supercharger for both of them. Needless to say, for people who own a newer vehicle, there might be a few changes to the engine, and superchargers won’t be able to fit Mustangs made from 2018 until today.

As we have mentioned before, the only important thing when looking for a suitable blower is to match the type of supercharger with the existing engine. So, it doesn’t matter if your Mustang GT was made in 2015, 2016, or 2017 because each of them will have the same engine.

Why Should You Supercharge Your Mustang?

The simple answer is — it’s fun! Getting an extra 200 horsepower is not a bad thing, and there are different supercharger models that can offer even more. Since Mustangs already have a lot of hp, it is not that hard to make them even more powerful. Some superchargers offer an increase in power of up to 70%, which is quite impressive!

Even if you’re disappointed in the performance of your car with a supercharger (which is nearly impossible), you can always remove it and return the model to the stock version. There are no downsides to installing a supercharger, and it is the simplest way to improve your vehicle. Moreover, supercharging the car is also the most effective way to boost it, and other methods won’t offer nearly as big of a difference.

There is a reason why so many drivers are interested in superchargers, and today, you can find a supercharger for nearly any vehicle. The boost you will gain from the blower will make a world of difference, and you will feel like you bought a brand new car.
