What is a Hemi engine? Hemi engines got the name from the hemispherical design of the combustion chamber. These were introduced in 1951, which also marks the beginning of the first-gen Hemi engines.
There have been three different generations of engines that fall into this category:
- The first-generation from 1951 to 1958
- The second-generation from 1964 to 1971
- The third-generation starting in 2003
