The original grudge racing shirts from Quarter Mile Addiction. What is grudge racing and how is grudge racing the same or similar to match bash drag racing? Grudge racing is a no time drag racing event. This is where the track turns off the score board that would display the drag racers number. IE: speed in MPH and E.T (estimated time in seconds).
This is in essence a no rules drag racing class, which usually involves each driver waging a bet against each other to see who is the fastest across the finish line. Unlike the match bash drag racing days, each car is put into a power adder class, to try to keep the field a or competition a little fair. Here’s a great article that explains this whole concept a little more in depth

Match bash drag racing is the original grudge match drag racing with regards to the fact that there are no rules. In fact there were very little safety rules back in the day either. You only had to look at the way the cars were often put together. You’d soon realise that the cars were really just a skeletal shell of a car. With a massive nitro or sometimes hydra-zine burning super charged engine.
Bets were placed in the usual way. This would involve a best of three racing event with the two drivers and cars. If your drag racing combination stayed together that is.It was pretty wild and intense. And exciting to say the least! Here’s a link to an article found on the Jalopy journal website that best explains this whole concept. https://www.jalopyjournal.com/?p=21141
After reading both articles you will get a better understanding of just how similar grudge drag racing and match drag racing are.
