Factory Hot Rods Wheels Up Action
This is the name of our first ever Mopar t shirt design. Featuring two factory light weight 1964 hemi cars, we’re sure you’ll love. Printed on a black premium t shirt, also available in dark navy.
With the slogan or often heard radio ad Sunday, Sunday, Sunday. Introducing the big feature match race for the number one spot in the nation. This was usually a match race between well known local racers and an out of town big name guy.
The event was designed to draw in the crowds, as they often did. Jam packed. With a big cash prize for a winner take all best of 3. Thursday nights were often a big night for heads up or match racing too.
Then many racers would race on a Friday night, and then drive 100’s and sometimes 1000’s of miles, to a factory sponsered event held on the Saturday. Same again on Sunday, then home again late Sunday night or early Monday morning.
This was how many racers made an income. Click on the image for more information and free shipping options, or visit the store front at this link https://www.quarter-mile-addiction.com/stores/quartermileaddiction
50 Years of Chrysler’s R0/W0 Factory Hemi Cars
Next up is pair of factory street legal race cars. The 1967 hemi Dodge and Plymouth cars were known by the R0 (Plymouth) and W0 (Dodge) vin tag. Only 55 of each were said to have been made.
They were a little heavier than the factory race cars from previous years. Probably due to the streetable nature of the cars, as they could be registered and driven legally on the street. The cars were largely underrated by racers in the early years due to the extra weight they seemed to have.
Many say that there were more Dodge Coronet and Plymouth Belvedere factory street hemi cars sold in 1967, than any other model year of the 426 hemi production. Perhaps the cars were far more popular with the general public.
After all there was such a massive demand for a street legal hemi car since the hemi engines inception in late 1963/64. Designed purely to win the 19464 NASCAR Daytona 500. And win it did!
1968 Hemi Super Stock SS/AA
Our next hemi t shirt for sale is none other than a pair of 1968 SS/AA cars. An L023 Hemi Dart and a B029 Hemi Barracuda. These cars were built to win IHRA and NHRA super stock drag racing events.
They were by no means street legal although the odd one or two have been known to slip throughthe cracks and somehow were registered to drive on the street. Around 70 of each are thought to have been built.
Many of these cars were acid dipped, an old air craft trick to lighten or thin out the metal/body panels. Fitted with special light weight glass, stripped of any factory sound deadening material, interior trim, window mechanisms etc.
They had fibre glass fenders and hood and anything else that could be lightened was done. These cars dominated their class, to the point where they now run in a class of their own, where some factory survivor and purpose built clones compete with each other to this day.
Run Watcha Brung & Hope You Brought Enough
The first NHRA event held in 1965 was known as the Woodstock of drag racing. This was at a time where the crowd would actually stand around the two race cars at the starting line. Then they would literally part to let the cars pass!
Some would stand so close behind the cars, they could actually see the dash controls of the car in action! Talk about close calls. This was the start of many crowd packed events from the mid 60’s until the late 70s.
Here we have a pair of 1965 Dodge and Plymouth hemi cars, complete with fuel injection stacks. The saying run watcha brung meant that when you showed up to race for the day or evening, you had best be sure to bring all that you got.
Meaning your setup had to be the best of the best. It was truly an all or nothing be all and end all racing event. There were practically no rules. You ran what ever fuel you could get your hands on. The tune up was often set on kill for most.
Both suspension and engine tune wise. Be prepared to break some parts.

Hi, I am not much of a revhead or so but your content and topic is engaging and informative. Your website is some place that anyone with that interest, which are many, can go to for products, info etc.
I haven’t too much experience with the topic, but if I did or knew of those I would recommend your site as its engaging, simple and covers a variety of content.
It also contains the well informed topics and for the viewer or consumer it has a simple layout and comfortability which is very useful when selling products or services. I would come back to your site and have another indepth look through just so I have a better understanding and knowledge as I love learning something new and out of the box.
I would even purchase as it is something that I would support and proudly acknowledge and possibly look good!
Well done!
Hi Lorraine thank you for your comment.
My aim is to educate a little to anyone interested in drag racing and it’s history/heritage. I’m pleased to learn that you have found the site engaging and informative and easy to read.
Trying to get information out while at the same time keeping it simple and having a website that is easy to navigate is very important for any webmaster/owner.
I have a passion for muscle cars and hot rods and drag racing in general. Stay tuned as there’s plenty more articles to come yet!
Mechanical engineer, former motorcycle racer. moto cross where men meet the dirt. Lover your niche idea. Think there are many things you can branch into here.
Chevy, Ford and Mighty Mopar [Dodge, Chrysler, Plymouth] were the muscle cars of the days of yore.
Awesome layout on the site and visibly pleasing. Tell us the rest of the history of drag racing. I was sponsored by a shop owner on the bike and never could afford the car racing habit, though I wanted too.
I think this is an awesome site. Chris
Thanks again Chris, your comments mean a lot from the experience you have.
Cheers
Great niche and idea. I like your start and the appearance and the navigation of your site. Many things you can branch out into for content and monetization on this site.
As I commented outside, I was a moto cross racer and good enough the King of Kansas City wanted to sponsor me on a Maico. Gas It.
Like the old Mopar cars and think the 1968 Charger is the best looking American Car ever built. My granfather was a Chrysler man and mechanic who became a full time rancher. His middle son turned wrenches for the 101st, 82 nd Airborne Divisions in Viet Nam and Korea.
This is a great site celebrating the grand history of the American automobile racing tradition. Go get em. Chris.
Hi Chris,
Thanks for your comment. You’re correct, there are many things I want to branch out into with the site. T shirts are just the start. I have a few Ford and Chevrolet shirts to showcase on the website too.
I’m looking into promoting drag racing parts and accessories, and I’m in talks with one or two companies at the moment. Very exciting stuff. This is the very reason why this site exists.
I have learn’t a bit about the history of drag racing through books that I have. I’ve been lucky enough to talk to people that were actually there back in the day through social media as well.
You have achieved quite a feat with moto cross as well, on such a classic bike. Very cool. A good friend of mine raced side cars on the dirt for 20 years with some success. It’s very hard on the body as you get a bit older though lol. He now races a classic 1959 Jawa he rebuilt himself.
I agree with you about the 68 Charger, very cool. Always wanted one. I have a 68 Coronet project though.
Thanks again for your kind words. Stay tuned for more info coming soon.
Dave
Hi Dave,
Very interesting article!
I have always been a car enthusiast but I have not really followed the drag racing world.
I love the t-shirt designs and, more interestingly, how the designs are related to specific context in the drag racing world. I presume they are historically competition among the cars at the time.
I had a good sense of the content of those t-shirts and their historical significance.
My son loves cars and I think he would love have them those cars in his room. Where can I find the prices for the different products (sheets, pillow cases etc)?
Hi David thank you for your comment.
Glad you liked the article.
The designs are based on the types of cars that would run in a particular class in that era. There are a couple of cars that look similar to an original race car, but not exact. Most are a generalisation of what they looked like for the times though.
Really appreciate that you grasped the concept of preserving the history of how drag racing used to be in the early years. Car culture in the 50s & 60s was just taking off in a really big way. Drag racing was a way of life for many at that time too.
I don’t offer sheets as such but do offer square and rectangular pillow cases on some designs,
If there’s a particular design you like, and the item you want is not listed IE pillow case, let me know and I’ll be more than happy to add it to the listing. Pillow cases are roughly $20usd give or take.
Some listings have many items on offer with the design on them. If you click on each item you will find the price for each one that way. Here’s an example of many items on offer
https://www.quarter-mile-addiction.com/campaigns/-/-/stores/quartermileaddiction/first-muscle-car-legend-series?
I’m more than happy to add something for you for which ever design you choose.
Thanks again
Dave
Hey Dave
This was quite an interesting read. I came here expecting to see a few t-shirt designs, little did I know that class is in session. You have provided quite a rich history behind the designs. The cars and the history they have made are what make your products authentic and full of heritage. There’s a message that all car fans can be proud to have across their chest.
The 1967 hemi Dodge and Plymouth cars t-shirt particularly stood out for me. With a 50 year celebrated history, such a shirt can hold sentimental value for most.
Solomon & Selina
Hi Solomon,
Thanks very much for your comment. Really happy that have got some understanding of where I’m going with this. That is to provide a bit of the history of drag racing. As well as how the cars played a role, along with each t shirt design.
I quite like the 67 Dodge and Plymouth design too. This has been a popular seller for Mopar fans.
Dave
Drag Racing is something I love watching on TV, never had the chance to attend any race live. The only sound of the engine when you start is thrilling. Personally I don’t like wearing T-shirts with marketing slogans, but there is no rule without exception, it might be time to change. The logo on the Factory Hot Rods Wheels Up Action is pretty appealing, it’s even better on the hoody. Do you ship worldwide?
Hi Legend,
Yes we ship worldwide. Visit the storefront here https://www.quarter-mile-addiction.com/stores/quartermileaddiction
Scroll to bottom of the page. On the lower right choose your country where you live.
Thanks for your comment. Let me know how you get on.
Dave
I’m a huge fan of Chrysler’s R0/W0 and was excited attending an event back in 2017 for the 50 Anniversary. I would love to have a T-Shirt like this one that celebrates their 50 Anniversary. In fact, I think I’ll have to get two because my wife shares my passion. I’m glad I found your site and shirts.
Nice one Abel thanks for your kind words.
Hi there and thanks for your post. Those are some great looking t-shirts. Classic hot rods always catch my eye when I see one driving down the street. I have only seen drag racing on TV, way back when I was a kid on a Saturday or Sunday afternoon. Do you know if there are any of those rare cars you were mentioning still in existence? I would imagine anything like that would be worth a lot of money today. Regardless of all the modern innovations in cars today, the classic muscle car is still the most appealing to me.
Cheers,
David
Hi David thanks for your comment. Yes there are many race cars that still exist today. You can find many old and new cars here on this Facebook page https://www.facebook.com/TheMuscleCarHotRodStore/ feel free to like follow and share. There are new posts daily of both muscle cars and hot rods. Some strictly street and some pure race cars.
Thanks for viewing
Dave
I’m so glad I came upon this website! Haven’t seen those types of slogans in such a long time. Tomorrow morning I will certainly check this website out in more depths to see if I can find something for my dad. I know it’ll be an amazing surprise and gift for him during this harsh-time that we’re currently experiencing.
Hi Stephanie thanks for your comment. If there’s anything I can help you with please let me know. What kind of cars does your Dad like?
Hi Dave,
I like racing cars t shirts and competitions. The event is so cool and exciting. It attract the attention of many spectators and personnels. Like reporters, sports photographers, fast cars racing fans etc. To capture all the hot action, solid cars and famous racers. Most important of all, it liven up the area. Making lots of sales from the event tickets, products, souvenirs, food and beverages. I use to watch fast cars racing competitions on my TV during my teenage years. Out of so many car racing products, i like to get the t/shirts, mugs and posters.
Especially the striking racing cars t/shirts. The graphics are so unique. I hope to watch it live, feeling the thrills snd excitement on the spot in the near future.
Best wishes,
David Koh
Hi David thanks for your comment. I quite enjoy drag racing as a fan myself. Glad you like the website. Have a great day.
Hi Dave,
Great post! It is nice to see those historic cars on the T-shirts that a lot of folks who are car enthusiasts would get some in a heartbeat. I used to know someone who was fond of the 1960s Chevrolet muscle cars. I have not seen him in a while but when I do I will have him visit your website. I am sure he will be excited to check what you have on your website. I have also a nephew who will be interested and I will have him visit your website. After reading your post, you brought me back to the late 1980s when I used to see quite a few of them still. A guy buys them and sells them to Australian men looking for a muscle car. Your website layout is awesome and so easy to read and pleasant to the eyes. Thank you.
Evelyn
Hi Evelyn,
Thanks for your reply. I’m pleased you like the website and it has given you a good experience. Thank you for helping to spread the world about the site as well. The more people that know about it the better.
Dave
Hello there! this is an amazing review you have got here. These T shirts are super cool though I didn’t get to see the sample of how it looks like but I know it will be dope especially the 1968 Hemi Super Stock SS/AA which I will like to place an order for as soon as I get to see the samples. Thanks!
Hi Joy,
Thank you for your reply. Glad you like the designs. If you want to see a sample just click on any image. This will take you to the online store where you can get a much more detailed look at each design and see how it looks on s t shirt.
You have to love the hemi. Great power boost with intake on one side and exhaust on the other allowing for maximum efficiency and power. I loved that design so much we had a hemi head made up special for my race boat powered by a Fiat four cylinder engine with dual side draft Weber’s. Much power for that class. Go hemi.
Wow that’s very cool Larry! Did the Fiat engine have an overhead cam? Would love to see some photos if you have any?
I could remember some time when my wife took it upon herself to take into possession whatever t-shirt I have, lol, I couldn’t withstand my precious babies literally stolen. These Hemi t-shirts are nice and I’m pretty in love with the designs, I’ll definitely get a couple for me and my wife, thanks .
Hi BeyondCol,
Thank you for your kind words. Glad you like the designs.

Hi charsleethan1 thank you for your comment. Really happy that you like the post. If you have any questions feel free to ask them here.
HI there!…you got a good article of out there, likewise you also got a unique niche talking about old racing cars, I really like racing cars , especially the old legal street racing cars that you can use to bring your kids to school or use it to bring your wife to have a groceries. My father was an enthusiast of old racing cars because he was a mechanic then and one of his rich customer friend brought his old mustang to our shop for some repairs and as a kid ,I just watch them talked about the problem of the car. Your shirt design is good and showed creativity…how I wish that someday I will be able to watch a drag race in the streets with those old muscle cars…but it sounds illegal here in the Phillppines,
Thanks Iaertes,
Street racing is illegal unless it is an organised event. Thanks for taking the time to leave a comment. Much appreciated.
I love the Dodge brand. One of my first car was a Dodge Shadow. Having T-shirts made is a smart idea to keep the Dodge brand exciting. Especially, when you are creating T-shirts representing the Dodge history of awesome cars. This article will grab the attention of almost all Dodge enthusiasts with the wonderful T-shirts. Thanks for the article.
Hi John thanks for your feedback. Really appreciate it. The Dodge Shadow must have been a great little car to get around in and very economical.
Glad you enjoyed the article.
Hi, I came across your site and was rather captivated. I love t-shirts so when I saw Hemi T Shirts for sale it caught my attention. Now, I do not know much about drag racing, but I found it fascinating to know how they modified the cars by acid-dipping them to make them lighter and thinner. Wow! That is just incredible.
However, I do love T-Shirts and I ended up at your store front. I have to say, what an awesome variety of designs you have here. I have taken a strong liking to the 1/4-mile addiction T-shirt in Navy. Plus, it comes with such an awesome graphic changing mug when you put hot water in it. That – is – hot! Great site! Love the T-Shirts!
Hi Sj thanks for your kind words, glad you like the website. The acid dip technique was an old air craft trick. Pretty amazing that this would be done to lighten a car for sure.
This is fantastic! I do not know very much about the Drag Racing and for sure the web site brings a lot of very good information. I love cars hence the information here is extremely interesting. I loved the Woodstock of drag racing stamp. is there a t-shirt with this stamp?
Hi Carlos thanks for your comment. Glad you like the website. Yes there’s a t shirt for the Woodstock of drag racing design, you can find the t shirt here along with free worldwide shipping options https://www.quarter-mile-addiction.com/run-whatcha-brung-hope-ya-brung-enough- I’m more than happy to help if you need anything else.
