Cool t shirts for men, Nostalgia drag racing apparel by Quarter Mile Addiction. Featuring drag racing muscle cars and hot rods form the 50’s, 60’s and 70’s printed on t shirts.
From altered wheel base cars to top fuel dragsters, including hot rod gassers to super stock drag cars. A time when the factory drag racing wars first started, which was in the very early 60’s. Much like it is today with retro Mustangs, Camaros and Dodge Challengers.
The factory horse power and drag racing wars rages on, with each manufacturer upping the horse power ante. Seemingly with every new model released. Today though, the horse power made with the newer cars are more than twice what the cars of the ‘heyday’ made, when bought off the show room floor.
The cars are built to handle the big power, naturally. Even with modern creature comforts of snug leather interior, air conditioning, cruise control, heater, state of the art sound systems. None of which the old cars were built with accept perhaps for a heater and an 8 track radio.
The cars from the early drag racing era were all out street brawlers. They required a drive seat of your pants driving style. Sure, they’d pin you to the back of the seat upon hard acceleration. But when it came time to go around corners, or even to simply stop at a stop sign, this required some skill.
Some would say that was all part of the fun. I’d have to agree.
[read more]The first of the cool t shirts for men that we are going to show case today, is the 427 Factory Modified Match Race, Heads Up Action t shirt.
This fantastic design is based on an old advertising poster. Something like this may have been used to announce the weekends coming event at a drag strip near you. In this case a drag strip in Pennsylvania. We can think of at least two famous tracks in the great state, from back in the day. We’re sure you can too.

Cool T Shirts For Women
As mentioned above we have cool t shirts for women too. No matter what your style preference is, or your choice of muscle car brand might be. We’ve got you covered. This classic vintage style design is based around another infamous drag strip. Can you guess as to which one it is?
If you guessed Lions drag strip you’d be correct. This is a tribute to the last ever event held at the strip in 1972. The track was right next to Long Beach, in California. A popular slogan used to advertise the events held there was ‘Drive the highways. . . Race at Lions’.
The last ever event held at the track included Top Fuel, Funny Car and Pro Stock classes. The track had become well known for Grudge and Match Race meetings in the early years. As well as Super Stock and Factory Experimental classes, (A/FX) too. With a bit of Ford vs Mopar rivalry. We’ll let you decide on which one takes the chequered flag. Perhaps a best of three heads up drag race?
Some say Lions drag strip was the Woodstock of drag racing events. Much like the the massive event help at York US 30 Drag way, in York PA. There’s also a tribute to that event held in 1965 too. It’s called the Woodstock of drag racing 1965.

Nostalgia Drag Racing Grand Slam
Here’s a tribute to Pro Stocks first grand slam. The Chevy Vega was the first car to achieve the status by winning all 8 NHRA national events in 1972. There seems to be a pattern here for 1972. Did drag racing itself reach it’s height for innovation and excitement?
The Pro Stock driver to take the Vega to the winners circle in all 8 events, was none other than a famous drag racer by the name of Grumpy Jenkins. He went on to take home over 1.2 million dollars over the next 5 years within the NHRA Pro Stock drag racing class.
This was achieved with a Chevrolet small block of just 331 cubic inches. This is a tribute to the little subcompact, that won the hearts of many. Known as the Chevy Vega. Hardcore enthusiasts would also know the car by the code ‘XP-887’.
Vintage Nitro Fuel Funny Car Drag Racing
The last feature for the day is a nostalgia Chevrolet Camaro Funny Car. With a big roots type supercharger. Often the fuel consisted of a nitro-methane and methanol blend. These cars ere a progression from the altered wheel base cars of the mid 60’s.
The term ‘funny car’ came from the spectators. As quite simply, the cars ‘looked funny’. This was often heard from kids as they asked their parents, ‘why does that car look funny?’.
The terms or sayings ‘It’s all about the speed, front brakes only slow you down, and, ‘race cars don’t have radiators’ were often used to describe the funny car drag racing class back in the day too.
